TriFidlan
TriFidlan is a dynamic trio that plays Irish and Scottish music with a modern twist, while drawing inspiration from the string traditions of 18th- and 19th-century Lowlands in Scotland.
Blending heritage and innovation, the trio brings together traditional tunes and inventive originals. Their sound is enriched with rhythmic grooves, percussive chops, layered harmonies, and inventive counter-lines, creating an energy that feels both timeless and contemporary.
While rooted in Celtic traditions, TriFidlan embraces a wider musical palette—bringing in influences from French Canadian fiddle styles, American Old-Time music, and beyond.
The band’s name—TriFidlan—literally evokes “three fiddles with a Gaelic flavor.” In this ensemble, even the cello is treated as a fiddle, just on a grander scale. The result is a bold, colorful string sound that bridges cultures, centuries, and styles.
TriFidlan is KeyReel Raskolenko (5-string fiddle), Cat Beck (5-string hardanger fiddle / viola), and Rachel Ellis (cello).
